Cloud Services and Management

Cloud services is a broad category that includes a number of resources available over the internet. It covers a wide range of resources delivered to a customer by their service providers over the internet.

Advantages of Cloud Service

Few advantages of cloud services are that they are cost friendly, as customers don’t have to pay for their licensing and supporting server upfront, rather they can subscribe to cloud services on monthly billing basis. Also, they can access the services when needed and shut them down when they are not necessary anymore. There are public cloud services and private cloud services. Public cloud services include service providers such as SaaS, PaaS and IaaS.

SaaS, PaaS, and laaS

SaaS is a software distribution model, according to which a vendor or a service provider hosts the applications and provide them to the customers over a network. PaaS supports the delivery of operating systems and other related applications over the internet. This strategy does not require download or installation. Its main advantage is that customers can create and deploy applications without investing in the underlying infrastructure. IaaS refers to the outsourcing of support operations, such as storage, hardware, servers, etc. they are all provided over a network. Whereas private cloud services are not available to general public, instead they run on an organization’s own infrastructure, only available to the people inside.

Cloud Management

Cloud management tools ensure that the software and technologies designed for operating and monitoring data, applications, and service residing in the cloud are working properly. Cloud management strategies involve many tasks including performance monitoring, security, disaster recovery and contingency plans. Cloud management warrants an ongoing analysis of the workloads and user experience over the cloud computing. This allows the providers to improve their service in whatever way they can. Cloud management also enables workflow automation. The business policies can be turned in to the actionable steps that are needed in order to manage and create cloud computing instances by workflow automation. This way, theeven human intervention will not be needed. Apart from creation, adjustments, and placements of cloud computing instances, the workflow automation helps the business or firms meet their requirement and needs for compliance, reporting and deployment. For instance, when a particular employee tries to transfer the private workload to the public cloud, the manager would be notified. This can help the firm and the manager both, to keep track of any violations of the security or compliance policies. Cloud management can be made successful with proper tools and their proper use, other than that it requires automation and an IT staff which is dedicated and competent. A business or a firm requires cloud experts in order to codify its policies into the workflows. In order to make this happen, the required IT staff must be expert and hand with the cloud tools and acquire enough knowledge about the cloud management goals of the firm. The firm must invest in the training for the individuals in the field of IT, or hire a new staff.
